Here is a sample question from the FRACTIONS – SHADED PIE test.
- If the student selected “1/4”, congratulations, that is the correct response. Correct responses are stored, but not reflected in the reports and graphs.
- If the student selected “1/3”, the explanation presented is…” in identifying the name of a fraction, the student wrote unshaded to shaded rather than unshaded to whole.” Diagnostic Code – FRPIE-7 – is presented in the reports and graphs.
- If the student selected “3/4”, the explanation presented is…” If the student selects this answer, the explanation presented is…”in identifying the name of a fraction, the student misread the directions, fraction shaded was written in terms of the unshaded pieces.”” Diagnostic Code – FRPIE-2 – is presented in the reports and graphs.
- If the student selected “4/3”, the explanation presented is…” in identifying the name of a fraction, the student interchanged the numerator with the denominator, as well as writing the fraction in term of shaded pieces instead of unshaded pieces.” Diagnostic Code – FRPIE-3 – is presented in the reports and graphs.
- If the student selected “Not Here”, the explanation presented is…”the student is confused by the question which results in an error pattern unable to be diagnosed.” Diagnostic Code – FRPIE-9999 – is presented in the reports and graphs.
In this scenario, all options are of value because they tell us how your child is thinking. Each incorrect answer will be noted and compiled to find patterns and mistaken concepts in learning. Then you can generate a report that will inform you and/or the teacher of the concepts that need attention and further instruction.
The iQEDucator™ testing analysis service is much more effective than other simple pass/fail systems because it pinpoints WHAT the problem is and WHY your student is making the mistakes.
